Introducing Our Partner
Life Pathways and Home Care Partners partnered for the first time in May, 2005. After our participants successfully complete Life Pathways’ two week intensive essential life skills training, they enter the Home Care Partners 75 hour certification training program. Our journey together has been a gratifying and rewarding experience, not only for ourselves, but also for our participants, who are now well prepared to provide needed services for our community.

The Life Pathways’ program, Empowerment for Success (EFS), currently serves as a model for preparing participants for entry into a training program leading to national certification as home health aides. In partnership with Home Care Partners, a D.C. based training agency, Life Pathways assumes the tuition costs of participants who successfully complete EFS’ two week cycle of intensive classes in developing basic life skills. The success of EFS in equipping participants with the skills necessary to provide long-term quality care to a diverse population among the critically ill, is demonstrated by the fact that over 90 percent of our graduates obtain and maintain employment in the health care field.
Life Pathways appears in the 2010 – 11 Catalogue for Philanthropy. Additionally, EFS has received funding from several foundations and private donations. This evidence of EFS’ sustainability supports our hope that future expansion of EFS will include application to other areas of employment by forming partnerships with organizations that provide entry level jobs throughout the metropolitan area. |
